Peripheral Nervous System
The Peripheral Nervous System is made up of nerves and ganglia. Ganglia are defined as groups of nerve cells inserted all along the nerves.
Nerves are cylindrical cords made up of neurons that innervate different parts of the body. Nerves may have either a motor or a sensory function, or even both. The nerves that innervate muscle masses are in charge of
sending them information from the brain so that the muscle becomes contracted or relaxed, and thus movement is achieved.
The sensory function is in charge of collecting every stimuli (pain, heat, pressure, etc) and sending said information to the Central Nervous System to be interpreted.
