Respiratory Disorders Caused by Gastroesophageal Reflux
Gastroesophageal reflux is the passage of acid content from the stomach into the esophagus. In spite of the fact that this is a very frequent disease affecting approximately 20% of the population over the age of 50, half the patients remain asymptomatic. Signs and symptoms vary according to its intensity, frequency and type. In general, parenteral disorders are the most relevant in clinical terms, especially those related to conditions affecting the ear, nose and throat, the mouth, the thorax and the lungs, and are also the most frequent disorders triggered by GERD.
